Attachments Viewer

HawkSoft includes an attachments viewer, which enables users to view and work with attachments such as pictures, forms, and PDF documents.

This article explains how to open attachments on a client or policy and how to view and work with forms, PDF documents, and images using the included attachments viewer.

See Processing Unmatched Documents for information on accessing and processing documents in the Unmatched Documents Inbox.

To view an attachment

To view any attachment on a client or policy, select the Attachments tab on a client or policy tab, and then double-click an attachment from the Attachments List.

Depending on the attachment's file type, the attachment displays in one of the following viewers:

  • PDF document - the attachment opens in a simplified version of the Microsoft Edge PDF viewer, which we will call the "attachments viewer" for the purposes of this article.

This attachments viewer is the focus of this article.

Image files (i.e. PNG, JPG, BMP, or TIF files, or any other image file type) will also open in the attachments viewer, however, no toolbar will appear in the attachments viewer for image files. You can still right-click an image file in the viewer to access some functions of the attachments viewer, such as the Print function.

  • Carrier download or a Policy Snapshot - the attachment opens in the HawkSoft AL3 Viewer, a.k.a. Downloads Viewer.

See the Downloads Viewer article to learn more about how to navigate and use the Downloads Viewer.

  • Other file type - (Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, or HTML files) the attachment will open in that file type's default program as defined by your installation of Microsoft Windows.

See Windows Support's help page on changing default programs to learn how to change a file type's default program in Windows.
