Vehicles and Auto Coverages

This article explains how to add, modify, and remove vehicles on an Auto policy, and enter coverages and underwriting details for each vehicle.

The main Vehicle screen provides a quick view of vehicles on the selected policy, as well as all vehicles from other policies on the client. From this screen, you can open an additional dialog for each vehicle which includes detailed vehicle information, coverages, limits, premiums, and additional interest.

HawkSoft 6 has more flexibility when creating package policies, enabling the inclusion of any Lines of Business. For example, personal package policies no longer list AUTO and HOME on separate policy tabs.

In HawkSoft 6, AUTOP and AUTOB lines of business use a single Vehicles tab and a single Drivers tab per policy. AUTOP policies no longer list each vehicle and driver on their own tab.

Your HawkSoft administrator can configure carrier preferences, including lines of business, default coverages, and more. For more information, see Carrier Setup Overview.

To add a vehicle to a policy

You can add vehicles and detailed information one vehicle at a time, or for policies with a lot of vehicles, you can export a spreadsheet template (or a spreadsheet of existing vehicles, if this is an existing Auto policy), add vehicles to the spreadsheet, make changes to any existing vehicles on the spreadsheet, and then import the spreadsheet back into the policy in HawkSoft. See Export/Import Multiple Drivers and Vehicles for detailed steps.

Carrier downloads can automatically add vehicles and update vehicle information and coverages. SeeCarrier Downloads Overview for more information.

To modify an existing vehicle's information and coverages

  1. Highlight the vehicle listed on the Vehicles screen.
  2. Click Edit to open the Vehicle detail dialog.
  3. Modify the Vehicle detail and coverages, as needed.

If the vehicle location is different from the main client address, select a Location from the drop-down. This drop-down is populated from the Locations tab.

For example, if the client's child goes away to college, but the child's vehicle is still covered under this policy, you can add the home address of the car at college to the Locations tab, then select it from the Location drop-down.

  4. Click OK to save changes and return to the Vehicles screen.

After entering or modifying vehicle information, click on the available side-tabs to complete the Client/Policy screens as needed, and then click Finish to save and exit.
