Inserting a New Customer

This topic describes the process of manually inserting a new customer file in HawkSoft with a sold policy, without using the Sales Pipeline.

Learn more about the Sales Pipeline before inserting a new customer.

It is best practice to enter new customers as prospects if they don't already have a bound policy with your agency.

Before you begin

You should always search for a client before entering a new one.

You should always search for the client in your database before you add a new client to avoid duplication. This will keep your database clean for your agency.

  1. Click the button from the main HawkSoft toolbar, and then enter search criteria, such as the client's Last Name.

  2. Click Search.

Once you verify that the client file doesn't exist, you can insert the new file.

To insert a new customer with a policy

  1. With the Search dialog open, click Insert New.

    The Action Menu opens.

  2. Select an application/policy type from the Action menu.

To enter a new client without entering a new policy, select (No Policy).

    The Insert Policy dialog opens.

  3. Complete the Client/Policy screens as needed.

Click the at the top of any screen to access available help.

For tips on entering policy information, see Policies Overview.

The available side-tabs are specific to the lines of business selected on the Policy Information screen.

  4. After completing all of the necessary side-tabs, click Finish.

    The Finalize Log dialog opens.

  5. Add log comments and create a Task as needed, and then click Save Log.

Click  Share in the upper-right of the client to copy a link to the client to your clipboard. You can paste the link into emails and chats to share with other users in your agency to allow them to quickly open the client.

These links can only be opened correctly on a computer where the HawkSoft Desktop App is installed.

When opening one of these links, you may see a prompt asking for permission to open HawkSoft.Connect. If so, check the box to always allow, and click Open HawkSoft.Connect. The client then launches in HawkSoft Desktop.
